Who we are
Synref is a self-reflection tool available at synref.com. Synref is built and maintained by Wessel Smeenge, based in the Netherlands.

What data we collect
Synref is a static website. Synref does not collect personal data such as your name, email address, or any account information.
If you accept cookies, Synref collects anonymous usage data through Google Analytics, including:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Approximate geographic location (country or city level)
- Device type and browser
- How you arrived at the site (search engine, direct, referral)
This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.
Cookies
Synref uses two types of cookies:
- Preference cookie — stores your choice to accept or decline analytics cookies. This cookie is named synref-cookies and expires after 365 days.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to measure anonymous site usage. These are only placed if you click Accept on the cookie banner.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your cookies in your browser settings.
Google Analytics
If you accept cookies, your visit data is processed by Google Analytics, a service provided by Google LLC. Google may transfer this data to servers in the United States.
Google Analytics data is processed under Google's privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Synref has configured Google Analytics to anonymize IP addresses, meaning your full IP address is never stored.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access the data Synref holds about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for analytics at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens)
Since Synref collects only anonymous analytics data, there is no personal data to access or delete. Withdrawing consent is done by clearing your cookies.
Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Synref does not store any other data.
Changes to this policy
If Synref makes significant changes to this privacy policy, the date at the top of this page will be updated the date at the top of this page. Visitors are encouraged you to review this page periodically.
